After leaving you right before the drop last episode, this time we head down into the tunnels to see just what it is exactly lurking below the surface of the pirates’ asteroid.
And it turns out it’s just breech leaches! And an eternal Bloodbeast! Big deal.
Trying to establish the size and power of a monster through just audio is harder than anticipated. I keep writing myself into new scenarios and having to learn things very quickly— I’m not sure how this one ended up, but I’m sure someone will let me know.
It was sure fun to listen to.
Someone asked me why I had been avoiding putting footstep sounds in the last few episodes. I haven’t necessarily been avoiding it, but they often seem extraneous to me. In a situation, like in Ahab’s episode, where Ahab listening to someone walk by is extremely important to the narrative, of course add them in, but when the narrator and the story itself is moving the characters along, I don’t always see the need to put them in. They’re walking and moving, it’s known. Let’s just let it happen without the distraction of SFX. That’s my take on it anyway. Earlier in the season I was using them a lot more, but i think it’s just one of the things I’ve decided about the show as it’s continued.
This episode ends with the company allegedly finally on the right path to save Cobb Gnarly’s Crow GF, we’ll see if it pans out (it won’t)
